Thanksgiving Coffee Coffee, Artisan Roasted, Vienna Roast, Mendocino

Not just a cup, but a just cup. Organic + Fair Trade. We started roasting coffee in 1972 in an old wooden fish-packing plant, nestled in Noyo Harbor. Much like a scene out of Steinbeck's Cannery Row, we were surrounded by rugged fishermen, artisan boat builders, cranky deck hands, and the salty aroma of a working harbor. Our approach to coffee roasting was inspired by the bountiful landscape and a proud culture of craftsmanship. The salmon catches decreased each year and the redwood trees were logged faster than they could grow, forcing the local mill to close down. The craftsmen disappeared too, leaving unemployment and a struggling community. Thanksgiving Coffee Company grew up in the midst of a once vibrant, resource-rich environment. We learned about sustainability by watching the foundations of our local economy disappear. Our business model is informed by our experience; a light footprint on the planet and a heavy focus on economic justice is our response. Every cup celebrates the craftsmanship of family farmers and provides stability and hope here in Mendocino and in communities around the world. The way to great coffee flavor is not direct. The path must be traveled with great care and attention. The way becomes a path, the path a road, and then, magically, the road becomes a highway that leads to the people who cultivate the land from which the coffee derives its special flavor. How does one find this path? Through caring. One does not search so much for the road that leads to the tree, as for the road that leads to the heart. This is the secret. - Paul Katzeff, co-founder & roastmaster. There is magic inside this package, only you can let it out! Fair Trade certified. USDA organic. Certified organic by OCIA.
