About Us

The Honer Family from Left to Right: Jennifer and Tim Bosma, Penny, Tom and Mary Elizabeth Honer

Honer Family at the opening of Harvest at Mendosa'sNaturally good foods,
naturally good service,
just naturally the best - in all we do. That's Harvest Market
.

Opened in 1985 by Tom and Penny Honer, Harvest Market strives to meet the ever-changing needs and wishes of its customers. "Back in 1985, you couldn't tell the difference between Harvest Market and a Safeway or Albertsons," states Tom. "But today, we are positioning ourselves to meet the environmental, health and specialty requests from our customer base."

Harvest Market's unique and varied departments specialize in almost every way imaginable. Our fresh produce selection is complete with both organic and traditional items. The seafood selection is the largest on the North Coast while our Meat Department's complete selection includes organic beef and poultry. The Bakery and Deli Departments have quite a reputation for weddings on the North Coast, and our Fine Wine and Spirits Department has the largest selection of Mendocino County wines in the area.

Two Locations:

Fort Bragg

Our main store, located in the Boatyard Shopping Center, continues to evolve and change with the times.  In 2006 we added near a third more space to make a total of 60,000 square feet.  No problem in filling the new space - our customers saw to that - we added lots of specialty products by customer request and expanded our Deli and built a brand new Bakery.  We still aren't the largest store in town, but we are the "greenest" (with our solar panels and much, much more) and we strive everyday to be the most customer responsive market we can be.

Mendocino Village

In May of 2007 we transformed the 100 year old Mendosa's Market & Hardware into Harvest at Mendosa's.  Although it is only about a quarter of the size, we poured in all the things we have learned about Customer Service and have now created a shopping experience worthy of the Harvest Market name.  We kept the old-fashioned Meat & Seafood counter and brought in all the as many of the products and services that both the locals demand and the traveler needs.  The Mendocino Village has welcomed us with open arms. We cherish that relationship and will continue to serve our community in everything we do.
